Heat Treating
As it’s name indicates, heat treating is a process where you heat the castings to elevated temperatures to transform the microstructure. Heat Treating is performed to make castings very hard for maximum abrasion resistance, or very soft to make them machinable. At Dews Foundry we heat treat our castings to make them very hard for maximum abrasion resistance.
Dews Foundry utilizes two computer controlled gas fired heat treat ovens to ensure that our castings reach their maximum hardness levels.
Our castings range in hardness from 600 – 700 HB.
